Blind Flanges: A blind flange is a solid disk used to block off a pipeline or to create a stop. It is machined in the same manner as a regular flange with the mounting holes around the perimeter and the gasket sealing rings machined into the mating surface. The difference is that a blind flange has no opening to allow fluid to pass through. These flanges are ideal for piping systems or vessels that require regular inspection.

They are the special type of pipe flanges which can be attached to the pipe without welding. Threaded flanges are threaded in the bore which match an external thread on the pipe.
Lap Joint Flanges: Lap joint flanges or backing flanges are normally used with collars or stub ends. Each lap joint flange usually has a radius machined into the bore identical to that of the stub end or collar so that it can sit directly on it. The stub end or collar is welded on to the pipe leaving the lap joint flange loose behind it.
Socket Weld Flanges: A Socket Weld Flange is similar to slip-on flanges, however, socket welds have an internal recess on the inside diameter to allow for a smoother flow of the process fluid. The positive of this is that is creates a smooth bore with the proper welding and grinding.
Orifice Flanges: Orifice Flanges are used with orifice meters for the purpose of measuring the flow rate of either liquids or gases in the respective pipeline. Pairs of pressure "Tappings", mostly on 2 sides, directly opposite each other, are machined into the orifice flange.
Ring–Type Joint Flanges: Ring Type Joint Flange is a method of ensuring leak proof flange connection at high pressures. A metal ring is compressed into a hexagonal groove on the face of the flange to make the seal. This jointing method can be employed on Weld Neck, Slip-on and Blind Flange.
